Tonight is a typical Saturday night waiting for Sunday...it won't be just a typical Sunady since the NFL season ended last week. Now NBA and NHL will fill in the time until MLB season starts in April as flurries are hanging around the cold city.
The 1inch of snow reminds me when I was very small while attending Quebec Heights CAMAS elementary school (which will be closing down at temporary school on White Street where the former South Fairmount school stood) walking to school in 3 ft of snow as I always assumed school would be open regardless of weather. Average child between 6-12 would be relieved that school would be close so that person can have his/her friends around to have snowball fights or get a sled and zoom downhill, but I treated school even when I was that young as a job so I showed up very often in the snow. I usually didn't watch the news because the news in my mind regarding weather crisis is usually wrong. Almost every time I did so, staff members would look at me and tell me, "school is closed." I often felt sad then hearing those words as the staff would call my mother to tell her that I came to school anyway and told her to pick me up.
As age caught up with me to a certain degree I laugh when people sometimes get lost or don't know how to maintain patience in driving on 1 inch of snow as the city news channels freak out as if it were 3 feet of snow.
I tried to get photos of Route 41 in the bitter cold yesterday, but Sorta coach 916 broke down by the time I arrived. The picture of Route 41 below is Sorta coach 2111 on Thursday afternoon. At least the weather was dry and wasn't unbearable like a polar bear...brr! I'll survive the next several cold and hot Sundays without football for a while.
Last night I watched new phenom Jeremy Lin scoring 38 points while picking the Los Angeles Lakers apart last night, what a show he put on. The run won't last for very long as long as he keeps his head upright as he already has he will represent himself well in the NBA. On that note his Alma Mater Harvard won their basketball game today.
